A Message from Bill Flooks

January 1, 2026

Dear Chamber Members and Members of the Pleasantville Business Community,

Happy New Year! As we step into 2026, we extend our best wishes for a successful and fulfilling year ahead, filled with opportunities for growth and prosperity.

We hope this message finds you and your business thriving. Over the past year, we’ve expanded our networking events, increased local marketing opportunities, and created new ways for members to promote their businesses through our website, social media spotlights, and community partnerships. These efforts have helped strengthen relationships between local business owners, drive customer engagement, and keep our local economy vibrant.

To continue building on this momentum and enhance the resources we provide, there will be a $50 increase in annual membership dues this year. This small adjustment allows us to offer even more:

  • More networking events and business mixers to connect you with potential clients and collaborators.
    • Enhanced marketing exposure, including expanded digital promotion and community features.
    • Stronger advocacy and support for local business issues that matter most to you.

Your membership directly supports a network that champions local business success and keeps our community strong. We’re confident the value and opportunities your Chamber membership provides will continue to far exceed the cost.

What’s Happening in the Village of Pleasantville Update – June/July 2026

  • Safe Streets for All (SS4A) Grant Update: The Village has secured a $160,000 federal planning grant through the U.S. Department of Transportation's Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program, a national initiative aimed at reducing roadway fatalities and serious injuries in communities across the country. The grant is funding the development of a “Comprehensive Safety Action Plan” for Pleasantville, which will guide future traffic calming measures, infrastructure improvements, and safety policies for pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists, and public transportation riders. Our consultant, NV5 Engineering, has completed a Village-wide crash analysis and is now developing safety recommendations for key intersections and corridors. The plan will focus on areas of critical concern including schools, parks, and commercial corridors, with an emphasis on reducing vehicle speeds and improving infrastructure such as curbs, sidewalks, and signage. Resident feedback is an essential part of this process, and there are two easy ways to get involved: Interactive Map: Visit www.pleasantvillesafestreets.com to use our online interactive map, where you can identify problematic intersections and leave comments directly. Public Workshop: Attend our Public Information Session on June 24th. Click here for details. All resident feedback will be considered alongside crash and accident data to shape the final plan.

Red Light Camera at Saw Mill River Parkway and Grant Street: To improve safety at this intersection, the Village requested installing a red-light camera to Westchester County and NYSDOT, which oversees enforcement and own the Parkway. The project required and received legislative approval from both the County and New York State. Westchester County issued an RFP for this location (and others along County roads) and is interviewing finalist vendors this month.

NYSDOT Safety Improvement Planned for Manville Road & Academy Street: The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT), which owns and maintains Manville Road (Route 117), has evaluated the intersection of Manville Road and Academy Street for potential safety improvements. Based on its review, NYSDOT plans to install a Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon at this location, with construction currently anticipated in 2027.

E-Bike & E-Scooter Safety Reminder: E-Bike & E-Scooter Safety Reminder: As warmer weather brings more residents outdoors, the Village has seen an increase in the use of e-bikes and electric scooters, particularly in the Downtown area. Residents should be aware that New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law prohibits the operation of e-bikes and electric scooters by individuals under the age of 16. The Pleasantville Police Department will continue to enforce this and other laws governing the safe operation of these devices. Parents and guardians are encouraged to review these requirements with their children and ensure that any e-bike being operated is equipped with functioning pedals, as devices with pegs instead of pedals are not considered e-bikes under New York State law. In addition, e-bikes and e-scooters may not be operated on sidewalks and must comply with all applicable traffic laws and regulations. The Village appreciates the public's cooperation in helping to maintain a safe environment for pedestrians, cyclists, motorists, and all who use our streets and sidewalks. Please note that violations may result in enforcement action, including summonses, fines, and, where authorized by law, impoundment of the device.
