Pleasantville Chamber of Commerce Social Media Policy

Purpose

This policy provides guidelines for the use and management of the Pleasantville Chamber of Commerce’s (Chamber) social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Vimeo. Social media is utilized to share Chamber-related information with members and followers. “Comments” include posts, articles, photos, videos, or any other content shared on Chamber platforms.

Objective

The Chamber’s social media sites aim to:

  • Share information about the Chamber and its members.
  • Promote member businesses, events, and initiatives.
  • Maintain a positive, unbiased online presence.

General Guidelines

The following rules apply to content and comments on Chamber social media platforms:

Prohibited Content:

  • Harassing, hurtful, threatening, unduly personal, offensive, or obscene material.
  • Political endorsements or opposition to campaigns or ballot measures.
  • Advertising or solicitation for non-Chamber members.
  • Religious or confrontational messages.

Political Endorsements:

  • Neither the Chamber nor Board members may endorse candidates during elections.
  • Chamber members hosting events featuring political candidates may have their business and event promoted on Chamber platforms.

Member Content Submission:

  • Members may submit up to three posts per month.
  • Content must align with Chamber standards and policies.
  • Posts should link back to the Chamber’s website for official forms, documents, and services whenever possible.

Standards

  • All posts are subject to verification before publication.
  • Social media activities must serve all members fairly and without bias.

Compliance with Platform Policies

All comments and posts are subject to the terms outlined in Facebook’s Statement of Rights and Responsibilities.
