What’s Happening in the Village of Pleasantville Update

July 26, 2024

Update on the Village Pool: The pool reconstruction project bids were recently received. The low-bid amount was $6,033,839. The existing pools are more than 50 years old. We can replace things like the liner, but the structure and plumbing are approaching the end of their predicted life and are showing signs of decline. The cost to address issues in the existing pools is likely $2-3 million. If we made those updates to the existing pools, we would remain reliant on below-deck infrastructure that dates back to the 1960s, and the pool mechanical systems would remain in a below-grade room that floods in heavy rainfall. If approved, the project would be funded by a bond. Without an increase in membership fees, the average impact to a Pleasantville homeowner would be around $170 per year. Increasing membership fees by about $175 (for family memberships, less for other categories) would reduce the typical tax impact to about $120 per property owner. Meeting notice linked here.
